Everyone’s heard of the 80/20 rule – 80% of the money is held by 20% of the people. Well, this month we wanted to put that adage to the test and see just how big the divide is between the Mass Market (less than $100,000 in investable assets per household) and Ultra High Net Worth (more than $25 million in investable assets per household).
Although the Mass Market is comprised of 68% of the nation’s households, they hold only 5.5% of the wealth. Conversely, the extremely tiny population that makes up the Ultra High Net Worth (0.04% of U.S. households) holds 7.7% of the nation’s investable assets – that’s more than the entire Mass Market tier!
