What is Credit History?
Your credit history is a summary of different parts of your financial life. Gathered by credit reporting agencies on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis from credit card companies, mortgage lenders, auto finance companies, department stores, banks, tax agencies and court records, it tells lenders and creditors how likely it is you’ll repay any money they lend you. Your credit history also lists personal information, including your name, current and previous addresses, phone number, Social Security number, date of birth, and current and previous employers. Consumers should regularly review their credit reports to ensure accuracy and completeness. A free annual copy of consumers’ Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion credit reports are available at www.annualcreditreport.com.
